Electrical Systems Design

This course is required for the following programs:

The Electrical Systems course introduces students to commercial and industrial electrical distribution system design. Participants in this course will learn about industrial and commercial electrical distribution systems, how they are designed, and how they are operated. Topics include but are not limited to lighting design, reading nameplate data from electrical components, selection of breakers and fuses, design of single line diagram and riser of building electrical system, and the selection of generators. Students will need a copy of the 2020 NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code – Handbook Suggested). Prerequisite: Engineering Concepts and Intro to CAD or previous CAD experience.
