About AAPC Certified Professional Coder

Medical billing and coding is one of the fastest growing allied health occupations. Certified professional coders help practices maintain compliance and profitability through accurate medical coding and documentation.

The rapid growth in this field of employment is the result of the increased medical needs of an aging population, advances in technology, and the growing number of health care providers who require trained coding staff.

At the completion of training, you’ll test to become nationally certified through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC).

STUDENTS MUST MEET WITH A CAREER PROGRAM SPECIALIST BEFORE ENROLLING IN A CERTIFICATE PROGRAM.

Prerequisite: Prior coding experience strongly recommended. Anatomy and Physiology and Medical Terminology.

NOTE: Must have high school diploma or GED, previous coding or billing experience and knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy and physiology. Must meet with a career program specialist and achieve a satisfactory score on entrance exam.
