Adjunct Clinical Instructor, Practical Nursing Program (Mondays and Tuesdays, Dayshift, 14-20 hours per week, Mid-July/August through June
The primary duty of this position is to lead and instruct practical nursing students through clinical experiences of; Fundamentals, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Maternal Child and Pediatric Nursing, and Mental Health Nursing. Clinical partners include Bayhealth Medical Center, Tidal Health, Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Milford Center, PAM Acute Rehabilitation, Delaware Veteran’s Home, Dover Behavioral Health and Maxim Healthcare Services. Scheduling can vary due to clinical access.
Additional compensated duties include participation in monthly faculty meetings, student advisement, participation in nursing lab and simulation activities, curriculum and program development, and community health events.
New instructors undergo formal orientation to the instructor role and to each clinical site. Mentoring and professional development resources and support are provided. One needn’t have direct experience in each care environment to effectively lead a clinical group.
This position is especially suited for nurses who gain satisfaction in helping others develop and succeed in a demanding profession. Adaptability and attentiveness to outcomes are also important qualities.
Wage Scale; RN BSN $36/hour RN MSN $37/hour RN DNP/Ph.D/Ed.D $38/hour
Minimum Requirements: Registered Nurse License, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, 3 years direct care experience as a licensed nurse.
ABE/GED® Teacher (part-time evening, 6-7 hours/week, available August 23)
Instruction occurs in a multi-level class. Learners are assessed at enrollment and placed into classes based upon competency in reading and/or math. Course materials and an effective web-based instructional supplement are available and must be utilized as part of the course.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will be licensed in Secondary or Adult Basic Education and be comfortable teaching the reading, math, science and social studies content necessary to prepare adult students for success on the Official GED® test. Position is available on T/Th evenings from 5:15-9:15 p.m. in Woodside. Offer of employment is conditional upon favorable professional references, negative TB test, and favorable criminal background check. Starting rate of pay is $32/hour.
Hybrid” ABE/GED® Teacher (year-round, part-time day/evening, 6-10 hours/week)

Instruction occurs in a multi-level class via a combination of in-person and remote delivery. Course materials and an effective web-based instructional supplement are available and must be utilized as part of the course. This is a new position, so this person will have an opportunity to learn and create a model that works for our students and our program.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will be licensed in Secondary or Adult Basic Education and be comfortable teaching the reading, math, science and social studies content necessary to prepare adult students for success on the Official GED® test. Groves Adult High School Teacher – (part-time evening, 6-7 hours/week, available August 2023)
Students are adult learners (age 16+) taking in person high school level content area classes to complete a high school diploma with James H. Groves Adult High School. Teacher(s) are responsible for the development and implementation of instructional plans and lessons, as well as ongoing learner assessment.
Qualifications: Successful candidate(s) will be licensed in their content area; special education certification is desired. Positions are available on M/W or T/Th evenings from 5:15-9:15 p.m. in Woodside. Offer of employment is conditional upon favorable professional references, negative TB test, and favorable criminal background check. Starting rate of pay is $32/hour.
ESL Teacher – (part-time evening, 6-7 hours/week, available August 2023)
Students are adult learners (age 16+) who are working on acquiring or building listening, speaking, reading & writing skills in English. Learners are assessed at enrollment and placed into classes that are “leveled” based upon oral competency in English. Teacher(s) are responsible for the development and implementation of instructional plans, as well as ongoing learner assessment. Classes are 100% in person; course content is supplemented by an online learning platform (either Off2Class or Burlington English, depending upon learner proficiency).
Qualifications: Successful candidate(s) will be licensed in one or more content areas; elementary level reading or ELA certification is preferred. Positions are available on M/W or T/Th evenings from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in Dover or Milford. Offer of employment is conditional upon favorable professional references, negative TB test, and favorable criminal background check. Starting rate of pay is $32/hour.
Family Literacy Teachers - (part-time evening, 6-8 hours/week, available August 2023)
Participants are preschool and/or school-aged children whose parents/caregivers are enrolled in ESL or GED® Prep classes at our Dover and Milford community locations. The children are enrolled in classes based upon age and/or grade level. Teacher(s) are responsible for the development and implementation of student learning plans which may include homework help, tutoring and small group instruction in multiple content areas. Classes are 100% in person; course content is driven by student grade level and area of need as identified by their daytime teacher.
Qualifications: Successful candidate(s) will be licensed in elementary education; strength in teaching reading is required. Positions are available on M/W or T/Th evenings from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in Dover or Milford. Offer of employment is conditional upon favorable professional references, negative TB test, and favorable criminal background check. Starting rate of pay is $32/hour.
(3) Part-time Parent Educator - Home Visitor
The primary responsibilities include: Provide in-home home visits to families with family stressors. Educate families on child development. Facilitate group family activities. Administer screenings and assessments to children and caregivers. Connect families with community resources. Assist families with goal setting. Assisting with program recruitment.
