FAQs

Here are answers to common questions employers have about our apprenticeship program.
What is the Apprenticeship Program?

A Registered Apprenticeship is a hands-on training program that lets you hire and develop employees
while they’re working for you. Apprentices receive paid on-the-job training at your company along with related
classroom instruction. Programs are registered through the Delaware Department of Labor and aligned
with national standards.

What are the requirements?
  • Hire the student as a paid apprentice and register them as apprentices through the DOL
  • Provide hands-on training and supervision
  • Support required classroom instruction
  • Follow a structured training plan with wage progression
  • We guide you through all setup and registration steps.
How long is the program?

Programs typically last 3–4 years, depending on the occupation and required training hours.

What are my commitments as an employer?

Provide meaningful on-the-job training
Offer progressive wage increases as skills develop
Maintain a safe work environment
Track and support apprentice progress

What is the next step to becoming a Registered Sponsor?

Share Job Opportunities

Employers can share open positions with us, and we will distribute them to our current students and program graduates.

Employer Presentations

Visit our campus to meet with students, introduce your company, and discuss available job and apprenticeship opportunities.

Annual Job Fair

Participate in our annual Job Fair, which typically attracts over 150 students eager to connect with employers and explore career opportunities.

Advisory Craft Meetings

Join our annual Advisory Craft Meeting to collaborate with us on aligning training with industry needs and strengthening connections between students and local employers.

Internship Opportunities

We can coordinate internships that allow employers to evaluate potential candidates before making a hiring commitment. We provide insurance coverage for all internships, and in some cases, we also cover student wages for a two week period. This creates a valuable, low risk opportunity for both employers and students.
